Green Fluorite with Rhodochrosite (classic material)

Some of the most classic and HIGHLY sought after Fluorites in all of the U.S. came from the historic Sunnyside Mine in San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. This locality is renowned for its superb pink Rhodochrosite specimens, but the most desirable association is green Fluorite. This is the ideal combination for collectors of this material, and specimens are almost impossible to find on the market today. This piece features VERY pale green (nearly colorless), octahedral crystals of gemmy Fluorite measuring up to 2.0 cm on edge associated sitting on soft pink colored rhombohedral Rhodochrosite. The piece is in great condition, and it displays well as you can see from the photos. It should be noted that many of these pieces are labeled as coming from the American Tunnel, but the good Rhodos all came from the upper levels of the Sunnyside Mine. The actual American Tunnel was not a mined for specimens, it was simply a tunnel used to move ore out of the Sunnyside.
