Green Calcite

The eminent Huanggang Mine is one of the most prolific localities in China. It has certainly produced some of the most singular, iconic and eye-catching mineral specimens from any Chinese mine over the last 10+ years. This small cabinet / large miniature specimen features an almost "flower"-like group comprising "poker chip"-esque thick bladed crystals of Calcite, free of matrix. The Calcites have a soft matte white appearance on the broad basal terminations, but the prisms are fairly lustrous, with a soft green hue (due to either Actinolite or Hedenbergite inclusions). The piece comes with a FREE custom acrylic display base. Rarely does one encounter these green Calcite crystals from Huanggang, especially in such dramatically showy pieces.
