Item Description
Graphite specimens are VERY RARE from this extinct Montana underground graphite mine. A rich and impressive large vein of intergrown clusters of highly lustrous, steel-gray, lamellar graphite plates with typical greasy feel rests on the sculptural gneiss matrix. There are NO photos of ANY species in the MINDAT Photo Gallery of the locale. From an old collection that turned up in the American West, this is a rare, perhaps unique large graphite from the locale. And, it happens to simply also be an interesting large graphite!
