Item Description
Graphite is RARE from the famous Sterling Mine and is very uncommon from the famous Franklin Mining District. Lustrous aggegates of platy metallic graphite with typical greasy feel are richly scattered on both the front and back of the sculptural granular calcite matrix. The striking cluster of the left side with sharp plates is 2.8 cm wide and the large cluster on the upper right is 3.5 cm. Very faint pink calcite fluorescence. Sections of an unknown straw-yellow mineral fluoresce yellow under SW UV light. From the Joe Lobell Collection of Oklahoma and comes with a Gerstmann's Museum and dealership label, well-known to Franklin collectors and dealers, dating from the early 1960s to 1980. Rare, rich and excellent Sterling Mine graphite. A MUST for the locality or species collector!
