Item Description
A rarely seen Goshenite Beryl specimen from the short-lived (late 1990s - early 2000s) Cryo-Genie Mine in San Diego County. This mine produced some very gem crystal specimens, including beautiful pink Morganite Beryls and bleu Aquamarine Beryls, but colorless Goshenite was incredibly rare to find. This piece came from what was called the "Goshenite Pocket" and features a fine quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, translucent, colorless prismatic hexagonal crystal measuring 3.8 cm, associated with black crystals of Schorl and white bladed groups of Albite (var: Cleavelandite). If you look closely, you can see a tiny Quartz crystal sitting on top of the Goshenite for a nice touch. No major damage, very showy and incredibly rare/desirable for any fan of pegmatite minerals, worldwide Beryls or minerals of San Diego County. Valued at $1,800. From the collection of Bill Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill is synonymous with minerals of San Diego County, and owned and operated famous mines such as the Stewart Lithia, the Tourmaline Queen, the Pala Chief and the Himalaya, producing some of the most iconic mineral specimens to come out of the area during the 1970s-1980s.
