Item Description
A fine quality, thick / stout, GEM quality to essentially opaque, colorless, tabular hexagonal crystal of rarely seen Goshenite Beryl from Arauuau. The piece is in fine condition as it's complete all around, save the bottom / back where it was removed from the pocket. There are some interesting inclusions that give the piece character and show a distinct line between the transparent sections and the inclusions. The crystal is actually doubly-terminated as you can see a pinacoid face on each side of the specimen. There are even small modifying pyramdial faces that can be seen on the corners of the crystal. Overall, this has to be on the finest examples of crystallized Goshenite that I've seen from the locality, and it would make a very worthwhile addition to any gem crystal suite, a collection of Beryls or Brazilian minerals, or worldwide thumbnails. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12075). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
