Gormanite (superb, rich specimen)

Gormanite is a rare iron-magnesium-aluminum phosphate seldom found in anything one would call an "aesthetic specimen" and the pegmatites in Linopolis, Brazil have produced the best specimens of this rare phosphate mineral. Numerous, rounded clusters of radiating sprays of green Gormanite display prominently all over this small cabinet piece and there is a small amount of Muscovite in association. The Gormanite is composed of dozens of densely packed, divergent sprays of acicular crystal in adjoining bundles with the Gormanite bundles varying between 1 and 2 cm across. This is an extremely rich and large solid display sized piece of this uncommon phosphate, and comes from discoveries at Linopolis in 2001 (according to the literature and Dr. Tom Campbell, who is most familiar with these phosphate finds).
