Item Description

A very fine, well-formed, gemmy, doubly-terminated monoclinic crystal of Görgeyite (a rare sulfate mineral) from what is the best crystal-producing locality (of which there are only a handful) in the world. A few smaller multi-tipped accessory Görgeyite crystals can be seen on the piece as well for a nice touch. The main crystal has a light tan hue in the center, which ranges into nearly colorless on the tips. It's also notably lustrous, which isn't always the case with these crystals, as they can be somewhat dull typically. If you collect rarities, don't miss out on this one! Very good quality with only a few small "Wilbers" here and there. Valued at $1,500. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-183401.html
