Item Description

A "golden" 7-piece deal of bright, sharply crystallized gold thumbnails from two historic European localities. The 6 outer crystals are from Rosia Montana (Verespatak), Romania, famous since Roman times and are undoutably older pieces. The beautiful arborescent forms are composed mostly of spinel-twins, but some extremely sharp octahedrons are also noted. 5 of the 6 crystals have bits of embedded quartz. The fantastic, feather-like center crystal is composed of striking sharp, hoppered spinel-twins and octahedrons. This superb crystal is from a very obscure Middle Urals locale - Nizhnii Tagil. The glass-topped box is 8.0 x 6.7 x 2.5 cm. Ex Richard Hauck and George Elling Collections.
