Item Description

Here we have an attractive thumbnail-sized piece from a brand new isolated discovery (2024) at an unnamed mine in the Kaokoveld Plateau of Namibia. We acquired this piece directly from the mine owner, and to the best of my knowledge, this is the only discovery of Gold in the region. The best part is that the Gold has interesting and rare associations to make it all the more enticing. This piece hosts attractive brightly colored crystalline spot of Gold which are associated with strong blue Shattuckite and light green Malachite on matrix. The species look beautiful together, complimenting each other pleasingly. Now this association is not unheard of in the mineral world, I remember seeing Gold with Malachite from the Musonoi Mine in DR Congo from several years ago, and even the more contemporary pieces from the Bleida Mine in Morocco, but never before have we had a piece from Namibia like this. As mentioned, we picked this piece up directly from the man who mined it at the Denver Show in September, and we were told that not many were found. Additionally the man said that there is a chance that more specimens may not be found because the production hasn't been terribly fruitful, so we might be looking at a "one and done" scenario, although nothing is ever certain, and there could be more of them in the future. If you collect native elements or unusual associations, or you're a fan of Namibian minerals, this is a cool rare locality specimen from a brand new find featuring beautiful species that are rarely seen together in nature.
