Item Description
The famous Gold specimens from the Bendigo Field (about 100 miles northwest of Melbourne) are some of the more distinctive representations of the species from any locality Australia. Typically, you'll see a lot of "flattened" almost "pancake"-like rounded nuggets from Australia, but many of the Bendigo specimens are quite sculptural with "depth" and three-dimensional form. This thumbnail specimen is a beautiful representation of this material with showy, branching features of rich almost "orange" colored Gold mixed with a bit of white Quartz. The style and color is reminiscent of certain California Gold specimens. The piece still retains of bit of crystalline features and looks beautiful from several angles. A wonderful thumbnail of this lesser seen material from this historic mining area that dates back to 1851. Specimen weight is 5.57 grams.
