Gold (rare locality specimen) (ex Al Ordway Collection)

Item Description

A notably hard to find specimen of Native Gold from the Darwin area in Inyo County, California. This thumbnail sized specimen features a decent amount of an unknown uncrystallized green copper mineral (possibly Malachite or Pseudomalachite) along with a small amount of a blue mineral (most likely Linarite), but the most important aspect is that there are a few eye-visible spots of Native Gold mixed in! I can't remember having a piece of this material to offer from Darwin, and it's a must have for any fan of native elements or unusual association pieces. We've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the Gold. The piece comes with an old (partially complete) label along with our inventory label that states it's from the collection of Al Ordway.
