Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Gold on Quartz from the Giant Yellowknife Mine in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Small, notably bright, crystalline patches are clearly eye-visible, but seen best with magnification. To the best of my recollection, this is the ONLY specimen of Gold we've had to offer from this locality. For reference, the piece weighs 74.56 grams, but the Gold content is minimal compared to overall weight of the Quartz matrix.
This piece comes from the collection of John Dagenais (#JD-21), a collector from the Pacific Northwest. John started collecting in 1969 and progressed to micromounting, and later built suites of specimens from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile, the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia, the Majuba Hill Mine in Nevada, the Black Pine Mine in Montana and the Tintic District in Utah, among other places.
