Item Description
A classic and very hard to find Gold specimen from the famous Glory Hole just outside of Central City, Colorado. The first major gold rush to take place in Colorado was on the sites of modern day Black Hawk and Central City in the mountains west of Golden at the top of Clear Creek Canyon. This area came to be known around the world as "The Richest Square Mile on Earth" for its prolific gold production starting in the 1860s through the early 1900s. This thumbnail sized specimen features crystalline formations and semi-"leaves" of brilliant glowing metallic Gold sitting on minor Quartz matrix. Very attractive with magnificantion, and a must have for any Gold collector or a fan of historic specimens from famous localities. Specimen weight is 0.45 grams. From the Colorado collection of Richard A. Kosnar, the well-known dealer and the namesake for the species Kosnarite.
