Gold on Quartz

A wonderful matrix thumbnail specimen of the well-known, eye-catching Golds from the Timmins area in Ontario. These specimens are certainly difficult find on the market these days. We were fortunate enough to buy this piece from a very reliable source (Frank and Wendy Melanson), but unfortunately they couldn't give us a specific mine where they were found. Since there are dozens of mines in the area, we just left the locality at Timmins. You can clearly see that the front face of the specimen features plenty of brilliant, metallic, semi-leaf-like crystalline Gold sitting on the slab of white-grey colored Quartz. Very attractive with magnification, and we photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. A great thumbnail for any fan of native elements collector, or a fan of thumbnails or Canadian minerals.
