An attractive matrix display specimen featuring crystalline, bright "sponge"-like groups of Native Gold on granular Quartz matrix from the famous specimen producing area in Grass Valley, California. The largest group of Gold measures 1.6 cm across. These specimens tend to have a rich "orange" color which is probably from a minor amount of Copper. The piece has an elegant form, and it's not a jumbled mess or just thin bits included in the rock, but actually free-standing above the matrix. A showy small cabinet and a worthwhile piece of this classic Californian material. Valued at $1800.
