Item Description
A superb, robust, hefty thumbnail sized crystallized native Gold specimen from one of the most famous Gold-producing area in the United States. The Mother Lode is a 120 mile long series of Gold deposits / veins that spans over five counties in California, and was by far the most productive in the history of California mining. This piece has a very disctinctive form with superb visual appeal. Semi-layered / foliated, richly colored, crystalline groups of Gold with an almost organic appearance are associated with minor silvery-black Arsenopyrite on massive Quartz. The piece is rather heavy for its size weighin in at 38.44 grams (over 1.23 ounces), so when you consider that the spot price of Gold is roughly at $1,300 today, this piece is a no-brainer for the low starting bid of $499. A wonderful Gold specimen from this historic mining district in California. A beautiful display piece, and as you can see from the photos, very eye-catching! Priced at $2,750 retail.
