Gold on Calcite (classic material)

Item Description

The Hope's Nose locality in Devon, England is almost certainly the most well-known gold locality in the entire country. Some of the most beautiful examples of arborescent Gold have been found at this locality, which dates back to the 1800s. This piece features tiny metallic gold in arborescent / dendritic / "plant"-like formations, on Calcite matrix. We have photographed the tiny Gold crystals, with a macro lens to better illustrate their quality. These are rare and desirable, and although this is a micro specimen, it's still a worthwhile example of these classics from southern England.
From the collection Dr. Robert ("Rob") Bowell, a geochemist and adjunct professor in Geochemistry and Mineralogy at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rob has a background in applied geology in tropical and deeply weathered terrains, he also has done mining consulting in the fields of due diligence, financial and technical audits, process chemistry, environmental geochemistry, environmental engineering and mineralogy.
