Gold octahedron ex Fioravanti Coll.

Item Description

A superb, sharp, 6 mm, gold cuboctahedron with rich color and fine luster is exquisitely perched atop a matrix wedge of quartz and country rock. This is an outstanding and very cute gold thumbnail from this famous locale. The Fioravanti label has some confusion. The only Last Chance Mine listed for Australia in MINDAT is in Northern Territory and it does/did not produce gold, whereas Ballarat, in Victoria is a very famous gold field. Obtained from the Autica Collection in Rome in 1960.
