Gold nugget (old material)

Item Description

A 'golden' deal of a sculptural, flattened, moderately river-worn, bright gold nugget from the historic Yuba River placers area. They were mined and kept in a family collection since the 1950s or 1960s, I was told by my source, who sold that particular family collection. They have a rich, mellow-yellow patina and a really interesting, rounded, pointy form. Mass is 13.99 carats or over 2.8 grams. The current gold price is over $1327/ounce or over $42/gram. Bullion value is about $115. Specimen value is more. For the locality, this is excellent.
