Item Description
A hard to find matrix Gold specimen from one of the eastern most mining districts of the Colorado Mineral Belt. Idaho Springs is one of the few mining districts on the eastern side of the Continental Divide in Colorado, and the Dixie Mine is arguably the most famous Gold mine in this area. For a short time in the mid 1970's, this mine was owned and operated by famous Colorado dealer and collector Richard A. Kosnar. This particular specimen was collected by Rich Kosnar on April 20th, 1976, and was part of his personal Colorado Gold suite (specimen number G476Dx2). The piece features small, modified octahedral and dodecahedral crystals plus micro "leaves" of Gold which are nestled into a small vug of Quartz and are associated with minor reddish-brown Sphalerite and Pyrite, etc. A great historic, documented Gold specimen from this famous district in Colorado.
