Item Description
This VERY RARE gold-filled, flattened vial has an outstanding provenance. The nuggets and flakes have rich, mellow reddish-gold color. This vial was Lot 441 of 526 lots from the very significant Georges de La Bouglise Gold Collection, that was auctioned in Paris in 1911 and purchased by Albert Burrage. The collection was bequeathed to Harvard in about 1948 and includes one of the great gold specimens in the world, the fabulous 11.7 cm Ram's Horn gold from the Ground Hog Mine, Gilman, Colorado. Gold specimens from this old placer deposit are RARE. Total mass of gold and vial is 14 grams. Ex Herb Obodda Collection # 3145. Value of such a fine collectable is hard to say. In the Obodda collection, it was valued $2000.
