Item Description
Dramatic veinlets of rich yellow, hackly platy gold course through the sculptural massive quartz matrix on this VERY RICH and RARE specimen from a most obscure locality in Baker County, Oregon. MINDAT lists 37 gold localities for Baker County, but not the Carroll B. Mine, because it essentially is just a claim that our crazy friend Doug Wallace was out prospecting on, and it not a mine per se (yet). NO photos are featured in the MINDAT gold photo gallery for the county in this size and richness. This exceptional and rare locality gold was collected during assessment work by local Dallas collector and dealer, Doug Wallace, about 10 years ago. His former dealer label estimates 0.31 oz of gold in the piece with a price of $496. It is worth more today for rarity, richness and quality! It looks great from either side.
