Item Description
Over the last few decades, the Mockingbird Mine in the Mother Lode Belt of California has produced some iconic and fine quality crystallized Gold specimens. These beautiful GOlds are on par with almost anything else that has been found in recent years in terms of crystal quality and overall form. This piece is a wonderful thumbnail sized specimen featuring gorgeous, sharp, well-formed, skeletal or "hoppered" octahedral crytals, free of matrix. Both sides of the piece are fully crystallized, and it really looks beautiful from either direction. Personally, I love skeletal octahedral Gold crystals, they're so iconic for the species, and you don't really see this habit in many other mineral species. If you collect native elements, worldwide or California Golds, or if you've always wanted a nice thumbnail from this classic locality, don't let this one pass you by. Specimen weight is 1.142 grams.
