Item Description

I'm sure subscribers to the Mineralogical Record enjoying reading the recent article on Round Mountain as much as I did. This modern-day Gold locality has produced a plethora of amazing Gold specimens featuring a wide range of crystal habits, including some of the most impressive Spinel-Law twinned Gold crystals I have seen. This thumbnail was discovered in 2006 and is a very good representative Gold for any collector. The two main characteristics of the specimen are the wide flattened "sheet"-like part of the piece which comprises tha majority of the specimen. Along the edge of the "sheet" are some beautiful, sharp, cuboctahedral and elongated octahedral crystals. It is a beautiful and highly desirable thumbnail from a mine that has given collectors some of the most amazing Gold specimens to come out in recent years.
