Jamestown is one of the great gold districts in California. It's famous for a wide range of styles and habits of gold found over the years. This attractive specimen featuring a coverage of richly colored crystalline and "leaf"-like formations of gold on the front (with minor micro crystallization on the back) associated with Quartz and Limonite. The piece was mined in the 1980s, and is a great example of this classic material. We've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. Specimen weight is 25.3 grams. Valued $2,000

Dave is now retired from mining, but was formerly the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s, and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar.
