Item Description

We've never had a piece of Gold from the Gold Fish Group to offer in the auctions. This locality in South Dakota is about 50 miles south of the famous Homestake Mine (probably the best known Gold locality in South Dakota), but specimens are virtually impossible to find. This mine was finished in the 1930s, but the last consistent activity ceased in 1907, so this piece is more than likely over 100 years old. This thumbnail sized specimen features small patches of rich orange-golden color Gold in Smoky Quartz matrix. Best viewed with magnification. If you're a Gold or native element collector, or a fan of South Dakota minerals, don't miss out on this exceptionally rare locality specimen. The piece is accompanied by a label from the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research. Specimen weight is 8.20 grams.
