Item Description

Sharp, lustrous, terminated, metallic-gray goethite crystals richly and attractively line the floor and walls of the sculptural, quartz crystal-lined vug. The crystals reach a large for the locale 6 mm. Rich and hefty iron ore and quartz matrix. This old iron mine opened before 1797 and closed in 1883. Very fine, undoubtably old-time material from this historic Cornwall mine. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and has a cloth label on the back.
