Item Description

This is a good association specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen has no Amazonite, but it is a wonderful display piece featuring sharp, lustrous, golden-black "needles" of Goethite forming a beautiful crystallized "spray" which are associated with minor crystals of purplish-brown "Onegite" (Amethyst with Goethite inclusions) sitting Smoky Quartz crystals For the size, quality and aesthetics, this piece is a fantastic specimen that would fit nicely into any collection. The piece was collected by Richard Kosnar in the early 1980's, and came to his son Brian in 2007 after Rich died. Good specimens of this material are few and far between from Colorado.
