Item Description
A classic and very fine Goethite specimen from Colorado. Connected, radiating, sharp, lustrous, semi-metallic black Goethite crystallized! blades form this striking "ball"-shaped group. The contacted backside reveals the radiating bladed clusters, extremely high luster and brown GEMMINESS to some of the blades. This fine specimen is from a recent find at the Dreamtime Mine in Teller County. The front is pristine, as the piece was expertly collected, and the underside of the piece shows a partial "cast" after a single hexagonal Quartz crystal, which is very rare for this material. This might be a "black rock" but these Goethites are some of the finest crystallized examples of the species extant! It should be noted that this mineral was named after the famous German philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and the correct pronunciation of the species is GER-tite (with a hard "g" like gold). Don't miss out on this Colorado classic.
