Goethite pseudomorph after Pyrite (rare locality specimen)

Item Description

This is the only specimen we've eve seen from this locality. From what I can tell, this locality is better known for its fossils, and the entry on mindat.org doesn't even list any actual minerals reported from Agos-Vidalos. The piece features pyritohedral crystals of Pyrite which have been pseudomorph (at least partially) into bronze colored Goethite. The underside of the piece shows a bit of the original Pyrite still remains, but certainly the exterior has been altered/replaced. I love that the crystals are still sharp and distinct, despite the pseudomorphism. The largest Pyrite measures 2.2 cm across. The piece is in good shape overall, with the only roughness on the back/base where the piece was removed from the matrix/pocket. If you're a fan of pseudomorphs, this is something that I believe you probably don't have in your collection, so don't miss out on this rare locality piece.
