Item Description

This is a fantastic pseudomorph specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen has no Amazonite, but it is a great piece fairly sharp, metallic to golden color black crystals of Goethite forming a blocky "cast" after preexisting cubic Fluorite crystals! This phenomenon is exceptionally rare in my experience with this material. Keep in mind that this specimen was collected by Richard Kosnar about 35 years ago (July of 1975), when he found some of the finest color Amazonite from Colorado extant. According to Rich, this piece was one of the only pseudomorphs of Goethite after Fluorite that he'd seen. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic".
