Goethite pseudomorph after Calcite (ex Dr. Wouter van Tichelen Collection)

Item Description

This is a lovely miniature specimen featuring a 3.4 cm sharp, distinct, tabular "disc"-shaped crystal of what was formerly Calcite but has been pseudomorphed by brown Goethite with a few additional smaller pseudomorphs on minor pinkish-beige Feldspar matrix. You don't see a lot of good crystallized Goethites on the market, but this piece is excellent for its size, quality and aesthetics. It should be noted that this mineral was named after the famous German philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and the correct pronunciation of the species is GER-tite (with a hard "g" like gold).
