Item Description
A surreal and rare pseudomorph/epimorph from finds in the White Desert. Lustrous, burnished brown goethite has replaced a sculptural 360-degree floater compound cluster of RARE pyrite cubes. Most specimens from here a pseudos after stellate-shaped clusters of marcasite crystals. The striking projecting walled "porch" in the front reveals, that the piece is a totally hollow epimorph, with a hole in the back! These were originally formed as pyrite crystals on the sea bottom and were then pseudomophed, retaining their fantastic form. They were dug in the remote western desert of southwest Egypt by Parisian dealer Alain Carion and his son in the mid-1990s. No more have been found. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Every turn presents a different perspective to this utterly fascinating rare pseudo!
