Goethite on Smoky Quartz (Dr. B. Phillips Coll.)

Classic and sculptural goethite on smoky quartz from the famous Pikes Peak area of Teller County. A 2.8 cm corsage of lustrous brown goethite blades is jauntily perched atop a sharply terminated, lustrous and translucent smoky quartz crystal with rich smoky color. The amazonite crystal set at the base is a super accent. Complete all-around and in good shape. The noted periphery wear on the lower left side of the goethite is certainly only a modest detraction.
