Item Description

Lustrous, metallic, brown to black, goethite botyroids line two opposing 90 degree faces on this sculptural large specimen of mostly massive goethite from this well-known, historic old 19th century iron ore pit. Oreland produced some the finest Pennsylvania goethite specimens. Mass is 701 grams or 1.5 pounds. Formerly in the Ray Strassler Collection. Ex George Loud Collection Nos. 7903 and 7122 PA.8, a well-known Washington, DC and South Carolina mineral collector.
