Goethite (historic locale!)

SUPERB example of Goethite from the famous Botallack Mine in Cornwall. The fingers of stalactitic Goethite rise beautifully and uniformly from the surface. The radial growth, where exposed, is sharp and very attractive. This cabinet piece has superior, glistening luster and rich, jet-black color on the surface. It's not dull and gray like a few of the others we've seen from this locality. A fine old classic of this elusive and eye-catching material, probalby from 200-100 years old. As an aside, take a moment and look at the location photos in Mindat. Just gorgeous on the southern coast of England, though I am sure cold and very damp in the winter. A spectacular example of a rare species from this prolific locality, as few were saved compared to more valuable items at the time
