Goethite (great quality) with "Onegite"

Goethite one of those species is typically seen in "less than crystallized" (massive / uncrystallized or reniform / botryoidal) specimens. With that said, I like to remind people that some of the finest crystallized specimens of Goethite are found around the various pegmatites in the Pikes Peak region, which are arguably the best representations of the species out there. This piece has actual CRYSTALS of Goethite, and is an excellent display featuring sharp, lustrous, golden-black colored "blades" Goethite forming a semi-"jackstraw" crystallized group associated with crystals of "Onegite" (Quartz / Amethyst with Goethite inclusions) on the underside of the specimen. The largest "Onegite" features a very attractive "reverse" scepter habit termination, making it all the more enticing. The largest Goethite blade measures 3.0 cm long. This is something that most collectors don't even think about adding to their collections because it's a "black rock", but when you take the superior crystallization into account, you realize this is significant for the species! Lastly, it's important to point out that the pronunciation of this species is a bit confusing. It was named after the famous German philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, so it is properly pronounced GER-tite (with a hard "g" like gold).
