Item Description

Outstanding Goethite from Colorado's storied Crystal peak area, known especially for its Amazonite-producing pegmatites. This fine display piece consists of a large, radiating spray of lustrous and metallic Goethite needles. Crystallized specimens like this, especially in this size range, are few and far between from Colorado. Really, this is one of the largest examples of the material that I've ever seen from anywhere. For the size, quality and aesthetics, this small cab is a fantastic Goethite that would fit nicely into any collection. Valued at $1500-$2000. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998), a prominent Colorado Springs figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936, and you can read his bio on the Mineralogical Record website.
