Item Description

An impressive, very fine and rare large combination specimen from this extinct underground iron mine in the Upper Peninsula. Striking, slanted, parallel-growth goethite stalactites are coated with green chamosite, a Chlorite Group species. Scattered clusters of dogtooth, pastel-pink, manganoan calcite crystals and tiny sparkly pyrite crystals are a fine accent. The broken stalactites reveal the nifty radial growth of the lustrous, acicular goethite. The calcite fluoresces pink. Choice, showy and rare two-sided material from the Schlichter and Robert Nowakowski Collections. Valued at $300.
