Item Description
This is a great specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen, has no Amazonite, but it is a great display piece a featuring a radial "spray" of sharp, lustrous, golden-black "blades" of Goethite and a metallic grey pseudmorph of Hematite after Siderite which is pierced by a rarely seen "casts" of Hematite/Goethite replacing Quartz. Accodring to Rich Kosnar, Hematite pseudomorphs ON Goethite with Quartz was very rare, and this specimen was one of the VERY few pieces of this material from this claim to show them associated in this manner. Keep in mind that this specimen was collected nearly 30 years ago (August of 1980), when Richard Kosnar found some of the finest color Amazonite from Colorado extant. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic". Valued at $500 retail.
