Item Description
Choice combination of sharp radiating crystals of Goethite on (and starting to replace) a sharp Siderite rhomb, together attached to the side of a Smoky Quartz crystal like a puzzle. The chocolate brown Siderite rhomb is 2 cm on edge, and complete save for the attachment to the Quartz. The Goethite coats much of the Siderite in a sparkly radial growth that is very attractive and mineralogically fascinating - as it shows an early stage in the process of replacement. The Smoky has a luster that varies from frosted to very good, is gemmy and about 2.7 cm across. While each may not be impressive on their own, together this makes an exceptional specimen. One of the more interesting association pieces with Goethite that I have seen from Erongo.
