Item Description
A so-called "mushroom" growth of goethite, from a special find of 2010-2011, that showcased these elongated growths of goethite one upon another, forming large fansprays like this. The color is brown to black, the texture is velvety, and the picture probably does not look so impressive - but in person, it has so much subtlety of detail, and interesting growth features, that it really does look more like an organic object, than a mineral. Old material from the Gary Weaver collection, from his large Mexican suite.
