Item Description

Gmelinite (or the Gmelinite Subgroup / Series) is an uncommon zeolite that is typically found in white/colorless crystals from most world localities. In the late 1980s-early 1990s the Sarbai in Rudny, Kazakhstan (famous for it's superb GEM golden Calcites) produced some beautifully colorful specimens of Gmelinite (most I've seen are labeled as Gmelinite-Ca) with a pleasing orange-pink / orange-salmon hue. Not only are the crystals colorful, but they are notably well-formed with superb luster. This piece is a wonderful small cabinet display specimen filled with many excellent rhombic crystals measuring up to about 7 mm, with notably reflective luster and upon close inspection, you can see tiny growth "hillocks" on the surface, indicative of the material. No damage and very show. A fine example of this now notably elusive material.
