Item Description

A lovely and classic example of Gmelinite in basalt from one of the various localities around County Antrim in Northern Ireland. A mass of basalt has formed an amygdaloidal specimen featuring some small vugs with small, compressed, white, semi-tabular crystals of Gmelinite. Most of the crystals are not complete, but there are a few euhedral Gmelinites on the specimen. This piece comes with an old handwritten label from W. J. Knowlton's Natural History Store in Boston, Massachusetts along with a dealer label that states it was part of the Phil Martin collection. Hard to find on the market, and a nice reference specimen for any fan of zeolites or minerals from the UK.
