"Glitter" Calcite (one-time find)

Shocking peacock iridescence of microcrystalline Chalcopyrite richly and dramatically covers the sculptural and aesthetic mounded hedgehog of hematite-included calcite scalenohedrons. The dominating large pristine crystal at the crest is 2.6 cm tall. The scintillating metallic colors range from yellow to orange to green, with some blue and red. Complete all-around and in great shape. Two gently bruised crystal tips are noted in the interior. Basal periphery wear reveals the underlying lustrous, translucent colorless calcite with patches of hematite inclusions. These are certainly minimal detractions to this highly attractive specimen. No more of this style have been found since, and they are definitely in the realm of "modern Chinese classics" that seldom turn up for sale - only as collections recycle now. Striking, iridescent Chalcopyrite on Calcite from a limited find in Hubei, China back around 2015!
