Gitter Quartz and Hyalite Opal on Feldspar

Item Description

Classic example of the epitaxial growth of so-called "Gitter Quartz" on a very large, sharp Orthoclase crystal. The frosted, Smoky Quartz crystals range up to 2.5 cm. They are pristine and actually gemmy. The lattice of Quartz crystals that 'decorate' the 8 cm x 6 cm Orthoclase is very detailed and intricate. There is also a large amount of fluorescent, vibrant green, Hyalite Opal on the specimen. An impressive and visually interesting example of this rare form of Quartz, with excellent associations. One of the better examples we have had, for size and balance.
