Item Description
Classic example of the epitaxial growth of Gitter Quartz on a very large, sharp Orthoclase crystal. The frosted, Smoky Quartz crystals range up to 2.3 cm, though the average is about 1-1.5 cm. They are mostly pristine, with only one crystal being chipped - that's remarkably little damage. To see the lattice of Quartz extend out from the edges of the 10.5 cm Orthoclase, all at angles similar to a Japan Law twin, is visually stunning and so very unusual. An impressive example of this rare form of Quartz.
