Item Description

Gismondine is a zeolite group species and Capo di Bova, near Rome is the Type Locality. Radial aggregates of lustrous, colorless, gismondine blades fill a large sculptural vug in phonolite matrix on this very rich and showy specimen from the Dennis Mullane Collection. The 1940s to early 1970s-era Bourget Bros. label says phillipsite, another zeolite species. The crystals on this specimen have the form of gismondine and not phillipsite, which has a different habit at this locale. Old-time, rich and rare material.
