Getchellite (superb) on Stibnite

The Twin Creeks Mine is best known for its wonderful, world-classic Orpiment crystals, which are regarded as the finest in the world, but it's also the source of some superb Getchellite specimens. This piece features excellent blood red color, platy, vitreous crystals of Getchellite that can be seen on all sides, sitting on grey-black metallic crystals of Stibnite. The accompanying dealer label says that there is supposed to be Orpiment on the piece, but I honestly can't find any. This is certainly of the better examples of Getchellite that we've ever had to offer in the auctions from this locality. Keep in mind that this rare arsenic antimony sulfosalt is typically not found in specimens that are larger than thumbnails, so this is certainly a good sized specimen for the species and the locality. The Getchellites shows good internal gemminess when backlit. A wonderful example of this fairly rare and desirable species from the classic locality.
